THE RULES ARE:
Get a good wave-come out ‘tag your teammate who then does the same till all four of you have had a wave your happy with.
All teams must consist of 4 team members.
There will be 2 semi-finals followed one final with each heat lasting one hour.
Each team is allocated a separate coloured rash vest (one per team).
During each heat only one member of each team may be in the water at any time (if there are 4 teams in a heat there will be 4 surfers in the water at any one time).
The surfer in the water may stay in the water for as long or as short as they wish and can catch as many waves as they wish.
However, only one wave per surfer will be scored by the judges and this wave will be chosen by the surfer themselves. The chosen ride must be “claimed” and indicated to the judges by the surfer by waving both arms in the air immediately after the ride.
After their scoring ride the surfer must return to shore where they will hand the rash vest to a team member who will then don the vest, enter the water and repeat the process.
Each heat will be exactly one hour in duration and only rides claimed within the allocated time will be scored.
At the end of the heat all claimed rides will be totalled by the judges (the highest wave score in each team will be doubled and added to the tally). Teams will then be given a position.
The 1st and 2nd teams in each semi-final will proceed to the final where the format will be repeated.
Timing, tactics and team work will win this one – may the best crew win!
